Many homeowners never check because “income-qualified” sounds like it’s only for very low incomes. In BC the limits are set by household size and are higher than people think, especially for larger families.
Income limits for 2026

| 2 | $63,600 | $79,500 | $127,200 |
| 3 | $78,200 | $97,700 | $156,300 |
| 4 | $94,900 | $118,600 | $189,800 |

Property rules that apply to income-qualified rebates
- The home is your primary residence and the only property you own in BC.
- Assessed value under $1.2 million (FortisBC dual fuel). CleanBC sets its own value limits by home type.
- For dual fuel: home at least 10 years old and no larger than 3,500 sq ft.
- Proof of income for every adult (18+) in the household, usually your Notice of Assessment.
The CleanBC Energy Savings Program (heat pumps)
The province’s income-qualified program pays the largest heat pump rebates in BC, with three income levels (see the table above). Rebates for heat pumps, insulation and windows changed for invoices dated on or after July 6, 2026. Contractor sources report lower amounts at each level. Because the exact new amounts aren’t clearly published, confirm your amount with an Energy Coach (1-844-881-9790) before you commit.
The most important rule: pre-register and get an eligibility code before any work starts. It replaces the standard FortisBC rebate for the same upgrade rather than adding to it.
How to apply as an income-qualified household
- Gather every adult’s most recent Notice of Assessment from the CRA.
- Request your pre-qualification or eligibility code from FortisBC (1-855-909-2331) or CleanBC before work begins.
- Hire an HPCN-listed contractor for the specific rebate, and get a written quote naming qualifying models.
- After installation, submit your application with the paid invoice within 6 months.
How BC Wide helps with the income-qualified rebates
BC Wide’s own TSBC-licensed gas fitters and Red Seal technicians install and service furnaces, heat pumps and dual fuel systems across Greater Vancouver, never subcontractors. That matters for rebates: the person filling in commissioning data is the person who installed your system, so details match the paperwork.
Phone or email us with your furnace age, home size and city. We’ll confirm which rebate fits, give you a free written estimate for qualifying equipment, and explain how to check any contractor’s listing on the HPCN directory. We answer (604) 473-9690 seven days a week, or write to info@bcwide.ca.
