Rebates aren’t the same across BC. Northern homes, some Island municipalities and Indigenous communities have programs Metro Vancouver doesn’t.
Northern BC (100 Mile House and north)
- Heat pump replacing natural gas heat: up to $8,000.
- Heat pump water heater replacing a gas water heater: up to $1,000.
- Dual fuel switchover must be 2°C or lower in Northern BC. Pacific Northern Gas offers a dual fuel top-up.
- Income-qualified northern top-ups are reported at $3,000 (multi-head or ducted) and $1,500 (single head); confirm with an Energy Coach at 1-844-881-9790.
Southern Interior
Standard FortisBC programs apply. The key difference for dual fuel is the 2°C or lower switchover requirement (versus 5°C on the coast).
Vancouver Island
- Saanich: 0% financing up to $12,000 to replace a gas furnace or boiler with a heat pump, repaid over 10 years on property taxes. The latest intake closed October 13, 2026, so watch for the next one.
- Central Saanich: same model, 0% up to $12,000, limited spots in 2026.
- Dual fuel switchover: 5°C or lower.
Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley
City of Vancouver heat pump top-ups were tied to the standard CleanBC fuel-switching rebate that ended in April 2025, and are not confirmed for 2026. We found no active 2026 top-ups for Burnaby, Richmond, Surrey, Coquitlam, North Vancouver, New Westminster or Delta. Check the Better Homes BC municipal offers page; top-ups are usually applied automatically when you claim the main rebate.
Homes in Indigenous communities
FortisBC’s program for homes in Indigenous communities (applications through the community’s housing department) lists dual fuel up to $15,000 (+$3,000 northern top-up), air-source heat pumps $5,000 to $12,000, water heating up to $3,500, insulation up to $2,000, windows and doors $950 each up to $9,500, ventilation up to $2,400.
Coming in 2027: federal National Heat Pump Rebate
Announced October 8, 2026, available across Canada: up to $10,000 for households below median income and $2,000 for others, stackable with provincial programs. Not open yet.
How BC Wide helps with the regional rebates
BC Wide’s own TSBC-licensed gas fitters and Red Seal technicians install and service furnaces, heat pumps and dual fuel systems across Greater Vancouver, never subcontractors. That matters for rebates: the person filling in commissioning data is the person who installed your system, so details match the paperwork.
Phone or email us with your furnace age, home size and city. We’ll confirm which rebate fits, give you a free written estimate for qualifying equipment, and explain how to check any contractor’s listing on the HPCN directory. We answer (604) 473-9690 seven days a week, or write to info@bcwide.ca.
